AGN WEST ASIA AND AFRICA REGIONAL MEETING 2011

The AGN West Asia & Africa Regional Meeting and pre-Meeting Tour successfully took place on 25-29 March in Sri Lanka. It was hosted by the Regional Chair, Sunil Abeyratna and his firm, Abeyratna & Co.
The Pre-meeting tour was action packed including a hike up the Sigiriya Rock (which has 1200 steps!), a viewing of the 1600 year old mural paintings of the Heavenly Maidens as well as a visit to the Spice Garden in Matale and a city tour of Kandy where the group visited the famous Dalada Maligawa Temple. They also had the pleasure of visiting Pinnawela to see the local Elephant orphanage and visited the Mlesna Fortress where they enjoyed the true lovely taste of Sri Lankan tea.
The regional Meeting was then held at the Palms in Beruwela on 28 and 29 March. A total of 12 delegates attended, who represented 9 AGN member firms from South Africa, the UAE, Nigeria, Tanzania, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, India, Syria and Sri Lanka. The group was also accompanies by the International Chair, Jim Carulas, from Meaden & Moore in the USA. During the meeting Internal AGN affairs were discussed as well as some guest speakers presented on various technical topics amongst others.
