AGN West Asia & Africa Regional Meeting 2009
December 2009

Johannersburg, South Africa, 25 - 28 November 2009

AGN International held its annual West Asia & Africa Meeting in South Africa in November this year.

The local AGN International Member Firm McMurray Aldum Inc. organized the Tour and the Meeting.  We must specially thank Lain and his team Albert, Leroux and Rosemary.

The Regional Meeting began on the 21st and went on till the 28th of November.  It was represented by 13 Member firms from different countries in the Region: Bahrain, Syria, Kuwait, Iran, Nigeria, Tanzania, UAE, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

Our new member from Tanzania – V A Business Assurance Services – Mr Vincent Augustino also had a chance to introduce themselves.

During the technical sessions the presentations included two excellent guest speakers – Mr Lyndsay Miseko – a chartered Accountant – articled at KPMG who currently lectures at the Johannesburg University addressed the gathering on the Audit Role of Corporate governance which was excellent.

On the 2nd day Brian Eyre - Principal Consultant, The Yellow Baobab Institute of Leadership - gave his presentation on communication which included a 'Brain Dominance Profile Workshop' for delegates and all the members took part.

The members decided that we should not have the Regional Meeting closer to the Annual conference, it was thus decided that the next Regional Meeting will be in Sri lanka in March 2011 with the mid year training programme (in June) venue to be decided.

A Tour was organised at the beginning of the Meeting.

The Pre-Cpnference was exciting and enjoyable.  We visited kruger Park which was really an experience.  In a lighter view we saw some animals we ate and some we tasted.

Dinner at Carnivore Restaurant was really out of this world.  Special place for food with special meats for special people.

We visited the  Lesendi Cultural Village, experienced fascinating traditions and customs of Four different Black Cultures of South African i.e. ZULU, XHOSA, PENDI and Busotha.

All delegates took part in the cultural dancing and dinner was at the Nyama Choma.

Ending the tour with a visit to the sun City which had water sports, swimming pools, gardens, sky trains, casinos etc.
