The pre-conference and post conference sight seeing was wonderful. The places of interest were:
- St. Paul’s Church (Old City) was built to commemorate the memory of St. Paul (Sand of Tarsus) As the biblical story goes he was charged by the Romans to persecute the Christians, but was converted on the Straight Street – Damascus. The blindness cured by St. Aninas. We visited the lane of St. Aninas.
- The Umayyad Mosque Great example of Islamic Architecture.
- Damascus Citidel dates to AD 1088
- Monastery of Sergees and St. Backons and of St. Tekla in Maoula. The only town in the world where the locals speak Aramaic (Christ Language)
- Dinner in the hills overlooking the city of Damascus
Our Young Member from Syria Miss Hanadi did an excellent job.
The following were elected to the Board of WAA for the next year.
